It's Too Late For Stella, But You Can Save Countless Other Dogs and Cats From Vocal Cord Mutilation.
This is Our Last Chance to Ban Devocalization in New York State.
Why You Must Make the Following Calls Immediately ... and Keep Them Coming!
RAMP UP YOUR CALLS, DON'T LET UP. IT'S NOW OR NEVER!
Make sure everyone you know makes these calls too. Post this link to your Facebook page: http://bit.ly/MrXVDw
Give it all you’ve got. Make lawmakers understand: Devocalization is mutilation. Many countries have banned it. Massachusetts has too. It’s outrageous that NYS still allows the cutting of a dog’s or cat’s vocal cords just to suppress its voice.
On June 21, when the NYS legislature adjourns for the year, the opportunity to protect animals from this inhumane, unethical veterinary procedure will be lost.
Assembly Bill 3431D and Senate Bill S6167C both must pass by then.
If either bill fails—OR is amended as lobbies that profit from devocalization want—dogs and cats will continue to suffer lifelong anguish or agonizing death.
Animals choke to death on food after being devocalized, even by experienced vets. They suffer heatstroke in mild weather, inhale vomit, food or liquids into their lungs. The "lucky" ones struggle to breathe and cough persistently, hacking like chain smokers, the rest of their lives.
And for what? Devocalized animals are abandoned like any other.
